Description
The inaugural Quintiles Marathon at Wrightsville Beach presented by Landfall Realty will be a historic event for those who participate. On Sunday, March 21st 2010 thousands of runners will begin their marathon quest from the ever popular destination island of Wrightsville Beach. Each will enjoy the scenic coastal views during their journey. They will wind through Landfall Community, an exclusive development in Wilmington for much of the course, and will finish in Mayfaire Town Center. Competitors, their families and friends will take advantage of all the fun offered by this world famous beach destination.
We will cap the race to 2000 runners (1000 in each race) for the first year. This is a USATF Sanctioned Event.

Landfall Foundation Mission:
The Landfall Foundation was formed to support Wilmington charities. 1/13/2010 Quintiles Marathon Becomes a USATF Sanctioned Event
What is a "sanction"?
A USATF sanction is an official designation issued by USATF, through a local Association, which approves and licenses the holding of a competitive track & field, long distance running or race walking event in the United States. The sanction is also a contract, which evidences the event's commitment to follow national and international rules and regulations of the sport and to provide a safe environment for the participants and spectators. Once the event has satisfied the sanction requirements, the event's application for sanction is approved. (www.usatf.org)

12/17/2009 USAT&F Certification Nears Completion
Event Organizers are pleased to announce that the course posted to the event page has gone through phase 1 of the USA Track & Field Certification. This means the course has been measured and is the correct distance; all that is left is the final submission of paperwork. We will be posting the final USAT&F Certification Numbers once they have been obtained. This event will be a very fast Boston Qualifier!
12/7/2009 Quintiles Becomes Title Sponsor of The Wrighsville Beach Marathon
Wilmington, N.C. - The Inaugural Quintiles Wrightsville Beach Marathon presented by Landfall Realty on behalf of the community will officially kick off at 6:30 a.m. Sunday, March 21, 2010. The new marathon and half marathon will start at Wrightsville Beach and travel a 26.2 mile route through the scenic Landfall Community in Wilmington. The events are expected to draw 2,000 competitors from dozens of states, and a spectator crowd of roughly 10,000.

Event Site Rules
On-Site Registration
There will be NO event weekend registration for this event. All registrations must be made prior to event weekend.
Cut-off Time
The course will be closed 6 hours after the start of the event. Event organizers reserve the right to pull athletes from the course, at any time, should it appear they will not reach the finish within 6 hours.
Headphones
Please note it is unsafe to wear headphones while running. Event organizers will not restrict headphone use and leave it up to the athlete on his/ her ability to follow direction while wearing headphone devices. If you do choose to wear headphones please keep the volume level down so you are able to hear and follow the direction of course volunteers.
Walkers
Walkers will not be allowed in the marathon.

The Trysports Expo will be held on Saturday March 20th, from 11AM-7PM at Shell Island Resort.

Pasta Dinner, Spectator Breakfast & Golf Packages
Pasta Dinner: On Saturday, March 20th, the Country Club of Landfall will be offering a carb-loading, pasta dinner to all runners and their families, Landfall residents, and club members. Registration is required.
Spectator To-Go Breakfast: On Sunday, March 21st, Non-Landfall residents are welcomed to enter Landfall and view the race. A To-Go Breakfast is being offered to all spectators. Registration is required.
Golf Packages: Special Golf Packages are also being offered to runners and their families from March 19th-21st. Tee times will be offered on the Jack Nicklaus course, afternoons only. Players must register in advance, space available.
