Description
Presented by the Aiken County Parks, Recreation and Tourism Department the Langley Pond Sprint and International Triathlons in Aiken, SC move into their seventh season after 
proving to be events not to miss. Athletes will find Langley Pond to be a triathlon dream with a private lake, indoor bathroom and shower facilities, children's activites and ample parking all within a few minutes drive from Historic Downtown Aiken, SC. Set Up Events and the staff at the Aiken County PRT Department are excited about this seventh year event and are certain all athletes will fall in love with the venue. The swim is one counter clockwise loop in the wet-suit legal waters of Langley Pond. 
Athletes encounter a long run of 400 yard to transition after the swim. From there the bike course is two loops which is best described as UP then DOWN as athletes climb to the high point on the course before roaring downhill to the low point back at the event site. While there is a significant amount of uphill, there is also a great deal of flat to rolling terrain and of course lots of fun and fast downhills Of course it is all worth it as the run is flat and fast and designed as an out and back.

All SCTS events benefit the SADS (Sudden Arrhythmia Death Syndromes) Foundation. Sudden arrhythmia death syndromes are genetic heart conditions that can cause sudden death in young, apparently healthy people. These conditions can be treated and deaths can be prevented.

On-site registration is available for this event on 08-30-2013 during normal packet pick up hours.

This event is limited to the first 300 registrations.
USAT Sanctioned
The Langley Pond International Triathlon is a USA Triathlon sanctioned event.
Cut-Off Time
All participants must complete the event in under 4 hours, 00 minutes from the start of the final wave. Event officials reserve the right to pull a participant off the course if it appears as though that participant will not be able to complete the event in under 4 hours, 00 minutes.
Minimum Age
The minimum age allowed for participating in the Langley Pond International Triathlon is 15 years of age.
Timing System
The Langley Pond International Triathlon will be timed using the ChampionChip Tming System.

Note: Participants must collect his/ her own event packets. This rule applies to relay team members as well. Photo ID is required in order to collect event materials. NO ID = NO EVENT. ALL USAT annual members must show a valid USAT membership card or pay the one day membership fee ($12).

Policies and Refunds
This event accepts refunds of 50% of the paid event price up to 14 days prior to the event date or until the event has filled. Event entries are not transferable between persons, events or years. NO EXCEPTIONS will be made to this policy.

TRANSFER POLICY
Event entries are not transferable between individuals. To switch from event to event (Sprint to International or International to Sprint) will require a processing payment of $15. This payment will be made via cash or check at packet pick-up. Please use the Contact Us About this Event link at the top of this page to request such a transfer.
WEATHER POLICY
In the event of inclement the following procedures will be followed:
- The event will be postponed until 7:30AM in hopes the inclement weather will pass.
- If inclement weather does not pass at 7:30AM the event will be changed to a duathlon with a time trial start 24 mile Bike, 10 km Run format.
- If a duathlon is not possible the event will be cancelled and a 50% credit will be issued for all registered participants into the 2014 event. No refunds will be issued if the event is cancelled due to inclement weather.
- If the event is cancelled due to inclement weather prior to event weekend a 50% credit will be issued for all registered participants into the 2014 event. No refunds will be issued if the event is cancelled due to inclement weather.

Tricycle Studios is the Official Photographer of the South Carolina Triathlon Series!
Their photographers will be attending this event capturing images throughout the race course.
Athletes will receive a customized email after the race, complete with race stats, and automated links to find your images. You may also go directly to the Tricycle Studios website to review their custom products, and purchase your photos from this and other Set Up Events.
