Description

On-line registration has closed. We WILL BE taking registrations on Friday and Saturday during posted packet pick up hours.

2013 PM LogoThe Paris Mountain Triathlon is a one of a kind event scheduled for April 6, 2013 in beautiful Paris Mountain State Park - Greenville, SC. An event that is not for the faint of heart, the Paris Mountain Triathlon will test your determination as you bike and run up and over the tallest point in Greenville County. Athletes will begin the day in a time trial start format in the spring fed waters of Lake Placid within the Paris Mountain State Park. The 500 meter swim will be wetsuit legal and over before you know it. But don't worry, there is plenty of time to be spent on the 20 mile bike route that rolls along rural roads before encountering the legendary Paris Mountain climb. Athletes will climb more than 1000 feet on the 2.2 mile climb so you better have your climbing legs ready. This climb is the sameSprinternational Triathlon Logo one featured at the US Pro Cycling Championships held each year in Greenville and local pro cyclist George Hincapie holds the unofficial best time up the mountain at just over 8 minutes (Folks that's 16.5 miles per hour!). While we don't expect anyone to beat that time during the triathlon, we will be capturing climb splits and awarding the fastest male and female of the day. Once over the peak it is a fast descent and a lot of downhill riding into the transition. Think you're done? Well, you are sorely mistaken. Out of TA athletes will begin the 2.5 mile climb up the other side of the mountain in what some claim is even harder than the climb found on the bike. We will let you be the judge. Whatever you decide the end result as you cross the finish line will certainly be satisfaction in knowing you have tamed the beast that is the Paris Mountain Triathlon. The 2013 edition will feature a trail run UP the mountain with a descent on the pavement. This change will make for a safer event while keeping the trail aspect of the event in play.
