Event #2 of the Patriot's Race Weekend is a Sprint Distance event in Williamsburg, VA.
Located at Anniversary Park next to the Jamestown settlement which was the centerpiece for the Jamestown 2007 Celebration. Just minutes from I-64 in Williamsburg, VA this is another must do event. After a 750 meter swim in the James River athletes will race through 20K of woods and farmland on mostly flat terrain and good pavement. Once you have laced up your running shoes you'll be treated to a flat and fast 5K run along the James River.
Be sure to take get in a day early to get your race packet, check out the race site and experience Colonial Williamsburg.
Course Details:
Swim: The swim course is a 750 meter rectangular course in the brackish James River. The start is at the beach adjacent to the Ferry and it finishes just downriver from the 4-H Center. The water temperature is expected to be in the upper 70's. A preliminary water temperature will be posted on the website the Thursday prior to the event. An official reading will be taken race morning.
Bike: The bike course is very fast and flat. This is an out and back course. Just prior to the turnaround point athletes will exit Rt. 5 onto a 12 foot wide freshly paved bike path to get to the turnaround point and resume the return section on Route 5.
Run: *Please see News section below about a run course change* The run course is pretty close to pancake flat. Athletes will have a lane of the Colonial Parkway to themselves as they run along the James River. The section along the James River consists of large pebbles cemented in place with a wide grass shoulder.
Aid Stations: Aid stations will be located every mile on the run course.
Post Race Food: All you can eat pizza, late season melons and other goodies will be on hand.

Water Temperature: 74F
Run Course Change: The run course for all 3 triathlons will be changing due to a boat hitting a bridge piling on the Colonial Parkway (click HERE to check out the press release). Basically, the original run course is now impassable at mile 1.
Event Site Rules
This event in conjunction with the International is limited to 1000 athletes.
Cumulative Cut-Off Times:
Swim = 50 minutes
Bike = 2 hours
Total Event = 2 hours and 30 minutes

Policies and Refunds
REFUND POLICY
50% of your entry fee will be refunded until August 28, 2009 or until the event has filled (whichever one comes first). No refunds will be issued for any reason after August 28, 2009. Event entries are not transferable between persons, events or years. NO EXCEPTIONS will be made to this policy. By registering for this event you agree to these refund terms. To request a refund you must complete the refund request form using the link below BEFORE the posted refund deadline.
Every effort will be made to have this event on time on this date. Should this event be cancelled due to an Act of God or other circumstance beyond the race directors control there will be no refunds, credits, or transfers.
PATRIOTS SPRINT TRANSFER POLICY
Should you want to switch from the Sprint to the International you will need to re-register online for the International and then request a refund for the Sprint. There is a $25 administrative fee to do this. This applies ONLY to the Patriots Int/Sprint triathlons and is only possible up until 2 weeks out from the event or one of the events fills. Once either event fills or we are within 2 weeks transfers and refunds will no longer be allowed.
