Description
2010 Event date will be announced by December 1, 2009
The specific date and time for online registration for the 2010 event will also be announced on December 1, 2009.
The Luray Triathlon is set in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains in the beautiful town of Luray. A two loop swim in pristine Lake Arrowhead gets athletes ready for the 25 mile bike through the woods and farms of the Shenandoah Valley. The 10K is an out and back with rolling hills and all on the roads of Page County.
Come to Luray with its 300+ acres of award-winning parkland and spend some time exploring the downtown and seeing what the Shenandoah Valley has to offer!
Affiliated Charities
This event benefits United Way of Page County.
Each year, in appreciation for the support of the local Luray and Page County communities in hosting the event, the Luray Triathlon gives back a portion of the race proceeds to benefit the local communities.
In 2008 the Luray Triathlon donated more than $8,000 to community organizations that supported the event including: Luray Volunteer Rescue Squad, Stanley Volunteer Rescue Squad, Shenandoah Volunteer Rescue Squad and Quest for the Stars in addition to a special $1,000 donation to help build a new skate park for kids in Luray. In 2007 the Luray Triathlon raised more than $4,000 for Choices, Council on Domestic Violence for Page County, Inc in addition to the above public service organizations.
In 2009, the United Way of Page County will be the primary beneficiary. The sole function of the United Way of Page County is to raise money for their 11 service and non-profit Partner Agencies. We decided on the United Way of Page County because of their broad reach to many deserving organizations in the community and the fact that every penny of the money raised by the United Way of Page County stays in Page County.
Please consider making an extra donation at time of registration to benefit local community organizations.
This year we will also be offering 25 special Community Slots for each race. 100% of the proceeds from the Community Slots will go directly to the United Way of Page County.
