Description

The Kinetic Half is the first half-Iron distance event of the season in the mid-Atlantic region and is staged out of beautiful Lake Anna State Park. The swim and bike are 2 loops and the run is a 3 loop course that brings athletes through the race site 3 times for an extremely exciting and spectator friendly day! The swim was cold in the past (60F average) but with the event 3 weeks later we expect the temperature to be in the mid to upper 60's. The bike course is outstanding with a mix of rolling and flat with almost all right hand turns on good pavement. There are 3 water bottle handoffs on the course. The run course is 3 loops through the park and campgrounds and is all on pavement with rolling terrain. There are 4 aid stations on each loop of the run course with each fully stocked with the following: water, energy drink, flat cola, Hammergel, E-Caps, oranges, salty snack mix and a portajon. There are also misting tents available at 2 locations on the course so you can cool off as needed 6 times during the run.

Be sure to stick around after the race for the best Italian food in town provided by Roma's as well as check out the latest and greatest triathlon gear in the expo tent.

New for 2009: We've got the park to ourselves. We have reserved 90% of the campsites and with the perfect temperatures of early May this is a great time to camp out. Check out the lodging section below to reserve your campsite. We'll have food available for purchase each day of the event.

Check out the lodging section below to reserve your campsite. We'll have food available for purchase each day of the event and stuff going on all weekend long. We promise, you won't be dissappointed!

Event Site Rules

Wetsuits: Wetsuits are not mandatory for this event starting in 2009. They are however recommended as we expect the water to be in the mid 60's.

Event Cut Off Times: We expect each athlete competing in this event to be properly trained for it. All participants must complete the race in under 8 hours. The swim must be completed in no more than 1 hour - 15 minutes from the time the participant started. The bike must be completed in no more than 5 hours from the time the participant started. Race officials reserve the right to pull a participant off the course if it appears as though that participant will not be able to meet the above time requirements.

Lake Anna State Park: Campsites are available for the weekend. There is a 2 night minumum for the campsites. The cost is $55 for 2 nights.

Policies and Refunds

REFUND POLICY
50% of your entry fee will be refunded until April 24, 2009 or until the event has filled. No refunds will be issued for any reason after April 24, 2009. Event entries are not transferable between persons, events or years. NO EXCEPTIONS will be made to this policy. By registering for this event you agree to these refund terms. To request a refund you must complete the refund request form using the link below BEFORE the posted refund deadline.

Every effort will be made to have this event on time on this date. Should this event be cancelled due to an Act of God or other circumstance beyond the race directors control there will be no refunds, credits, or transfers.
