Description

On-line Registration will close at 7AM on Wednesday September 8, 2009. After this time we WILL be taking applications during posted packet pick-up times on Friday and Saturday.

 

This event features a 700 yard open water swim, a 13 mile bike leg, and a 5K run. The course will include over 6 miles of beautiful Ocean Boulevard, a ride along the marsh in Cherry Grove, and a section of historic Ocean Drive the "Home of Beach Music" on Main Street. Bring your family & friends and make it a vacation event!

This is a great opportunity for your family and friends to share in your sporting passion. While you satisfy your "need for speed" at the event, those closest to you can also enjoy the prime vacation destination that "is" North Myrtle Beach. With premium restaurants, first class entertainment, scenic bicycle routes, local golf courses, extensive shopping, and the finest beaches on the east coast, there is something for everyone to enjoy. Be sure to make reservations for a few extra days to stay with us and enjoy the Grand Strand, you'll be glad that you did. So will those who travel with you.

9/8/2009 Volkswagen North Myrtle Beach Triathlon - Event Details Posted
If you are planning to race this Saturday at the Volkswagen North Myrtle Beach Triathlon please read through the posted Event Details. This document will answer most of the questions you may have.

Event Site Rules

Event Capacity
This event is limited to the first 400 registrations.

USAT Sanctioned
The North Myrtle Beach Triathlon is a USA Triathlon sanctioned event.

Cut-Off Time
All participants must complete the event in under 2 hours, 20 minutes from the start of the final wave. Event officials reserve the right to pull a participant off the course if it appears as though that participant will not be able to complete the event in under 2 hours, 20 minutes.

Minimum Age
The minimum age allowed for participating in the North Myrtle Beach Triathlon is 10 years of age.

Timing System
The North Myrtle Beach Triathlon will be timed using the ChampionChip Tming System.

(Note: The Finish Line area is just 3 blocks from the transition area and only two blocks from the event parking area. It is suggested that athletes collecting materials on event morning do NOT bring their bikes and gear to Packet Pick up but leave these in their vehicles until after registration materials have been collected.)

Note: Participants must collect his/ her own event packets. This rule applies to relay team members as well. Photo ID is required in order to collect event materials. NO ID = NO EVENT. ALL USAT annual members must show a valid USAT membership card or pay the one day membership fee ($10).
