Description

The Coliseum Health System's Rock 'N RollMan moves into its seventh year in 2010. After six very successful events, this year's Rock 'N RollMan should rock harder than ever before. This event has quickly become one of the nation's best at this distance and has earned several national distinctions from USA Triathlon. The 2010 edition will again be part of the USAT Half Championship, will offer an Aquabike Division for those wishing to race but not interested in battling the half marathon and will feature a $4,990 prize purse for the Top 5 men and women to split. Other distance events such as a sprint distance triathlon and long course duathlon make for a endurance filled weekend anyone can enjoy.

The swim course is a one loop affair with athletes starting on the beach and swimming in a clockwise direction. Water temperature is always on the borderline for wetsuit use with average water temperature over the past years being 78 degrees. Current and chop are light to non-existant.

The 56 mile bike is one giant loop through Bibb County, GA. Traffic is very light. The course is best described as rolling with no sever grades but many long, gradual ascents. While this is not the most difficult course around, it certainly is not the easiest. Water bottle hand offs are found at or near miles 15, 30 and 45. All turns are marked with pavement arrows and directional signs and volunteers/ police man each intersection.

The 13.1 mile run course is a one loop course with 3 out and back sections. A rolling course with no serious climbs, it is the heat that makes this course difficult. Proper training and conditioning are keys to success on this run course. Aid stations are spaced out every mile and are fully stocked with salty snacks, Gatorade Endurance Formula, Hammer Gel and Endurolyte tablets, oranges, soda and ice cold towels to name a few items. Many sections of this course are closed to vehicular traffic.

Event Site Rules

Event Capacity
This event is limited to the first 800 registrations.

Mandatory Bike Check In
All participants in the Half must check in their bikes on Friday June 4, 2010 between the hours of 1PM and 7:15PM. If you do not check in your bike during this time you will not be allowed to race.

USAT Sanctioned
The Coliseum Rock 'N RollMan Half is a USA Triathlon sanctioned event. All USAT rules will apply.

Cut-Off Times
All participants must complete the event in under 8 hours, 00 minutes from the start of the final wave. Event officials reserve the right to pull a participant off the course if it appears as though that participant will not be able to complete the event in under 8 hours, 00 minutes.

Individual Discipline cut-off times are listed below as cummulative times from the start of the final swim wave:

Swim: 1 hour 15 minutes
Bike: 5 hours 00 minutes
Run: 8 hours 00 minutes

The medical form is mandatory and must be filled out and turned in before you can collect your event packet. Please download the form and bring it with you to packet pick up.

Minimum Age
The minimum age allowed for participating in the Coliseum Rock 'N RollMan Half as an individual is 15 years of age.

The Coliseum Rock 'N RollMan will be timed using the ChampionChip Tming System.

Note: This time is the only time packet materials may be collected. If you do not collect you materials during this time you will not be allowed to race. There will be no exceptions to this rule.

Note: Participants must collect his/ her own event packets. This rule applies to relay team members as well. Photo ID is required in order to collect event materials. NO ID = NO EVENT. ALL USAT annual members must show a valid USAT membership card or pay the one day membership fee ($10).

ATHLETE BRIEFING
An athlete briefing will be held at the event site on Friday June 4, 2010 at 5:00PM. This meeting will be held beneath the covered gazebo area and will last about 30-45 minutes. The meeting will go over all aspects of the event is great detail. Questions will be answered and are encouraged

Policies and Refunds

REFUND POLICY
50% of your entry fee will be refunded until April 1, 2010. No refunds will be issued for any reason after April 1, 2010. Event entries are not transferable between events or years. NO EXCEPTIONS will be made to this policy. By registering for this event you agree to these refund terms. To request a refund you must complete the refund request form using the link below BEFORE the posted refund deadline.

TRANSFER POLICY
Event entries may be transfered between individuals. All transfers must be made in writing and postmarked no later than May 1, 2010. To switch from individual to individual will require a processing payment of $50. This payment must be made via cash or check and mailed to us at:

WEATHER POLICY
In the event of inclement the following procedures will be followed:

The event will be postponed until 7:30AM in hopes the inclement weather will pass.
If inclement weather does not pass at 7:30AM the event will be changed to a duathlon with a 5 km Run, 56 mile Bike, 13.1 mile Run format.
If a duathlon is not possible the event will be cancelled and a 50% credit will be issued for all registered participants into the 2011 event. No refunds will be issued if the event is cancelled due to inclement weather.
If the event is cancelled due to inclement weather prior to event weekend a 50% credit will be issued for all registered participants into the 2011 event. No refunds will be issued if the event is cancelled due to inclement weather.

Aid Stations

BIKE COURSE
Aid stations on the bike will be positioned at 3 locations on the bike course. These stations will be found at approximately miles 15, 30 and 45. Stations at mile marks 15 and 45 will have water only in sportscap water bottles which fit nicely into a standard water bottle cage. The station at mile mark 30 will have water and Gatorade in sportscap bottles which fit nicely into a standard water bottle cage.

RUN COURSE
Aid stations on the run will be positioned approximately every mile. These stations will contain:

Water and Gatorade Enduance Formula
Hamer Gel and Electrolyte capsules
Pretzels and other salty snacks
Orange Slices
Flat Cola
Iced Rags

AquaBike Division
The 2010 edition of the Coliseum Rock 'N RollMan will offer an Aquabike Division for those wishing to race but not interested in battling the half marathon of the event (1.2 Mile Swim then the 56 Mile Bike). Athletes must register as an Aquabike participant (Event Category) during registration AND MUST USE the discount code aquabike10 to pay the reduced rate ($50 off the normal fee). Aquabike athletes will end their day at the bike finish timing mats entrance to the Transition Area. Awards will be given to the Top 3 overall men and women in this category. Aquabike athletes will not be awarded finisher's medals at this event.
