Triangle Triathlon to move to two days in 2010:

The Triangle Triathlon will be held on two consective days in 2010. The event dates will be as follows:

Triangle Triathlon (Sat) - July 10th
Triangle Triathlon (Sun) - July 11th

We're doing this as a way of being able to increase the number of people who can participate in the Triangle Triathlon and to ease the parking situation, last year this event sold out in at 1200 participants, so by expanding to two days we can enable more people to race and ease the parking issue.

There will be no differences in the races. When one race fills up on any particular day, people will have the option of registering for the other day. For example, if the Triangle Traithlon (Sat) fills up, people will be able to register for the Triangle Triathlon (Sun). Awards will be given out for both event. All the race categories available in Inside-Out Sports North Carolina Triathlon Series events will be offered for both events. For instance, if you are a novice, you can register for either of the two event dates. Same applies to all the other race categories.

The exception to this rule will be relay teams. Relay teams will only be allowed to race on the July 11th event date. There will be no relay team competition on the July 10th date.

Inside-Out Sports North Carolina Triathlon Series Ranking Points:

Inside-Out Sports North Carolina Triathlon Series points will be given out for both events. There will be no difference between the event dates. As far as Inside-Out Sports North Carolina Triathlon Series ranking points are concerned, we are simply now offering one additional race in which a person can obtain points. The point value for the Triangle Triathlon (Sat) on July 10th will be same as the points value for the Triangle Triathlon (Sun) on July 11th.

Course Descriptions:

Swim:
The swim is a 750 meters in the Lake Harris. It will be a point to point swim. The start and finish of the swim are about 400 yards apart.

Bike:
The bike course is one 17.5 mile loop. The course is rolling and takes place on rural county roads. The roads are open to traffic - but traffic is usually fairly light.

Run:
The 5K run course is an out & back with a loop. The course is rolling and moderately shaded.
