VIEW ANOTHER EVENT
The swim is a 400 meter pool swim in the Ramsey Center natatorium. Participants start at one side of the pool and snake their way up and down each lane as they work towards the other side of the pool. Being a pool swim race, participants must submit an estimated 100 yard swim time when registering. These times are used for seeding purposes. It is in your best interest to submit a time as accurate as possible. Submitting a time that is too fast for you puts you up with swimmers who will be passing you during the swim - not good for you or them. Putting a time that is too slow places you with slower swimmers and forces you to have to pass everyone. The ideal scenario for all participants is to have people submit accurate times - the whole swim flows better.Swim caps are not provided for pool swim events. If you would like to wear a swim cap, then be sure to bring your own.
The swim start process involves all the Age Groupers, Collegiates, Clydesdales, Athenas, and Relay Teams going off first, followed by all the Novices.
The bike course is one 20K loop. The course is rolling and takes place outside of the Athens Perimeter. The roads are open to traffic - but traffic is usually fairly light.
The 5K run course is a single loop - totally on the UGA campus. The course is rolling and moderately shaded and will take participants around Lake Herrick before returning tot he Ramsey Center.
This event benefits UGA Triathlon Club.
A club for UGA students interested in swimming, biking, and running. The Triathlon Club at the University of Georgia is a club sports level university-sponsored team and a 501 (c) non-profit organization. The club is also a USAT (USA triathlon organization) sanctioned club. The UGA Triathlon Club welcomes University Students, faculty and staff of every and all ability levels, with all distances and levels of expertise represented from newbies to age group winners to Ironman finish...ers. The newness of the sport of triathlon, particularly in the SE region, can be both exciting and intimidating. The UGA Triahtlon Club hopes to take the intimidation factor out of it through peer-education, group training, and even expert advice. The UGA Triathlon club keeps their goals in both training and competition focused on 3 main things: supporting and encouraging our team mates, seeking personal improvement, and most importantly; having fun and enjoying the camaraderie that comes along with the team aspect. The team has become quite a cohesive unit and defined quite a niche for itself at this large university. Team members are as competitive as THEY want to be, and merely urge everyone to enjoy the experience, and within their capacity we attempt to help them reach their personal goals. However, that is not to say that our team is not competitive - our racing team does focus on competing both individually and within the collegiate category throughout the SE.
Swim start times have been posted. Please click HERE to review all start times. Participants will swim one at a time every 10 sseconds. Swim caps WILL NOT be provided. Please be prepared at least 15 minutes prior to your swim start time as this line moves VERY quickly. See you on Sunday!!
