Tri the Swamp Rabbit at Furman

7/12/2017 - Online registration has closed. We WILL be accepting late registration this weekend. All dates, times and locations can be found further down this event page. The 2017 Event Details are posted above. The 2017 Bib List can be found here and the 2017 Swim Start List is located here.

For  those "hopping" to race in South Carolina in July, we proudly presents the sixth annual Tri the Swamp Rabbit Triathlon at Furman University, one of the most picturesque campuses in the country.

With over 1,500 registrations and 3,000+ spectators and volunteers at the first five events, the 2017 event will be another great success. The event is timed perfectly for mid-season summer fun, is family-friendly and the only triathlon at Furman. This is a well-run event for individual athletes or relay teams and a great addition to the SC Triathlon series!

The 250-meter pool swim will make for a perfect start for the first timer and the Elite athlete alike. The swim will take place in the Furman Paladin Athletic Center pool with the transition area a few steps away near the football practice fields adjacent to the PAC. The manicured grass will feel like carpet beneath your feet.

The 16.5 bike course through beautiful Travelers Rest will test your mid-season legs rolling over a host of gradual climbs and a handful of short steep bursts with nearly all the climbing in the first half of the course followed by a fast finish leading into Furman's back gate.

After the bike leg, you'll find a new twist on a 5K venue familiar to local athletes thanks to the addition of a sweet stretch on the Swamp Rabbit trail, the race's namesake. After a scenic jaunt around Furman's beautiful Swan Lake you'll enjoy more than a mile on the well-shaded Swamp Rabbit Trail, after which you'll loop back through this gorgeous campus towards the finish just beyond the transition area.

USAT Sanctioned
This event is a USA Triathlon sanctioned event.

Cut-Off Time
All participants must complete the event in under 2 hours, 30 minutes from the start of the final athlete. Event officials reserve the right to pull a participant off the course if it appears as though that participant will not be able to complete the event in under 2 hours, 30 minutes.

Minimum Age
The minimum age allowed for participating in this event is 10 years of age.  Exceptions will be made based on parent/guardian request.

Timing System
Tri the Swamp Rabbit will be timed using the ChampionChip Timing System.
(5 splits provided)

Swim Time Changes
If you are trying to make an adjustment to your estimated swim time change given during registration, please click HERE to learn how to do this.

Our registration system allows for people to access their registrations and adjust their swim times prior to the event.

NOTE: All swim times must be adjusted before online registration closes. After this time, participants will no longer be able to make this adjustment on their registration (the system will lock out any changes). Swim times will not be adjusted after this time for any reason.

Submitting a Swim Time
All participants must submit a 100 yard swim time for seeding purposes.

Being a pool swim with a staggered start, participants are seeded from fastest to slowest. It is in your best interest to submit an accurate 100 yard "pace" time for your 250 meter swim. In other words, don't submit your fastest 100 yard swim time, submit a 100 yard time that represents what you'll do on event day over the 250 meter distance.

On-Site Registration
On-site registrations will be taken if the event does not reach its capacity prior to the event closing for on-line registration.  Athletes can register on-site with cash or credit / debit card only.  Checks WILL NOT be taken.
